C Mead final logoPhew.  It has been a rough road, but I have finally made it.  I got to the school holidays with my sanity intact.  Just as to how long, depends on lots of things.

Firstly, editing of Cursed Love seems to have taken forever, but I think its a good thing.  There are lots of additional dialogue to explain things further out, and to add more foreshadowing – at least I hope so.  I’m falling in love with my characters all over again, including Bradford – I like his thinking  🙂  Once I have it done, will have a quick read through before checking in with my editor to see how her schedule looks.  all going well, it can go to my proofreader(s) and then I can start working on the cover details and the launch date.  I’m planning on the end of November, but if things don’t happen the way I expect, it will be early January 2015.  Christmas is traditionally a stressful time of year for me, so I don’t want to be trying to launch a book then too!

I haven’t written anything new on Beautiful Stranger, but I don’t expect to do so before the end of October.  I have two new chapters to add, and I keep having bits of conversation float through to me – Cat and Dom sparring with each other, because that is what they do.  I love their word fights, because it helps to build the tension between then and then one of them caves and gives in.  This is an exciting story, I can’t wait to get into it.

Another story bursting to get out is one about Parehe – Maori Forest Guardian Spirits – I came across this idea while walking a part of the

Abel Tasman Track when I was in Golden Bay recently.  It will have to sit on the back burner and quietly bubble away because there is another story I want to write first – a runaway one that I want to start a new series with – about people running away from their problems, only to have to confront them again.  This was one that I plotted in one day, while walking the Abel Tasman National Park Walk in May this year.  It won’t be started until next year, but have some other stories I want to tickle up first – like Ice Planet (evil eyebrow wiggle!)

Now, as for doors slamming – work has now finished, and I am relieved.  I have a plan in place to keep me going over the next two weeks of the school holidays, including spending half the day with my son, however (and here is the window opening) my husband has arranged some work for me – unfortunately it isn’t local, and it is this week, while I have our son… I don’t know if our boy will like me working during the holidays, especially as I have promised to spend some time with him.  I think I will have to talk to him about maybe doing it next week, while sonny boy is at Nanna’s.

So, for now, it is full steam ahead on plans – a schedule to keep me busy and let me do everything I want, like spring cleaning the house, spending time with my boy, getting information on a newly formed sports group I am part of, and writing, and op shop and gardening etc etc.

Onwards and upwards.
