With everything that has been going on, many of you would not blame me for going completely mental… But I haven’t 🙂
My Mental goals are:
To expand my artistic abilities,
to expand my writing abilities
to learn more about alarm testing and electricity
OK, so I am going to have to update this – because I am no longer working in the alarm testing industry. In fact I have no job at the moment, and each week it is really impacting on me. I’m not one to happily sit on my butt and do nothing. I want to be stimulated and I need a job!
But lets talk about expanding artistic and writing abilities – I have been a lot of art lately. A lot of it is inspired by YouTube. It is a wonderful place to go if you want to see how to do something. It was where I got the inspiration for the shading on my lino cuts this year. I have also found some backgrounds, which I have made, just so I can finish off my artwork, as my folio is due in at the end of this term.
Writing… ah, well. I haven’t done much. And I certainly haven’t done much as far as learning more about my craft, although I have been reading an intriguing book by Steven Pressfield called ‘Nobody Wants to Read Your Sh*t’, which I managed to score free. Lovely short chapters – like really short chapters, but really insightful.
I’ve also been reading posts from Fiction University – especially one about How to Write (and Not to Write) an Author Bio which is why my bio has changed… and it is now on the Landing page – all three or four sentences of it.
So I guess you could say I have been learning more about the art of writing.
And along the learning line, I just handed in my final assignment on the He Papa Tikanga course through The Wananga O Aotearoa – learning about the Maori culture and how it applies to the world around them. Very interesting course. Now, I just need to find something else to follow up on… Te Reo? Rongoa? I don’t know at this stage.
So I guess I can confirm that I am still working on my mental skills, and improving them all the time. I love the mental stimulation from learning new things.
