LaVerne Clark is a lovely person I originally met through KiwiWriters, then we got together and met in Person.  She is lots of fun to be around and very encouraging.  She has two books out and is constantly working on new WIP – thanks LaVerne for tagging me.

*Answer these ten questions about your current WIP (Work In Progress) on your blog
*Tag five other writers/bloggers and add their links so we can hop over and meet them.

Ten Interview Questions for The Next Big Thing:

What is the working title of your book?
I don’t have a working title, but I like Ice Planet  – I did want Ice Queen, but there is already a book by that title out there.
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I love Star Wars and the Ice Planet Hoth and I thought, what would a gothic story look like on ice?  But then I moved away from the gothic idea and went with an action story with a romance twist.
What genre does your book fall under?
Fantasy (Science Fiction?) Romance
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oh, now that is hard… Let me Think.
Vyvica – it is a toss up between Keira Knightly and Aishwarya Rai
This one is harder…
but there is only one.
Jason Statham – he has the right amount of smoulder and humour to pull off the job!
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
The resistance is struggling.  The dictatorship is impatient.  Vyvica and Kelvaras are the only two who can make a difference.  But can they survive each other to make their side win?
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I hope that it will be picked up by an agency one day – when I have finished it.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I originally wrote Ice Planet during SoCNoC 2011 – a month long writing challenge.  Then two months later, the laptop crashed and I lost half of it, so I am rewriting / writing it again.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
To be honest, I really wouldn’t know.  It is different, and out there, so I guess those authors who haven’t followed the werewolf / vampire / zombie line.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Star Wars, Princess Leia and Han Solo – what can I say!  I love the original movies, I loved the bickering that went on between Leia and Han, I loved that they got together.  They are the inspiration for Vyvica and Kelvaras.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
There are some twists and turns that are unexpected, and really bring the whole story together… and did I mention that all of the action takes place on a planet covered in ice?
Next Five Big Things
Oh dear, where do I start?  Some of my friends have already participated!  But definitely

What fun Catherine! 😉 Loved your answers and LOVED your character choices. I think that Indian actress is one of the most beautiful in the world, don’t you think? And Jason…sigh…they don’t get much yummier than him! 🙂 I’m looking forward to reading the others answers soon too 🙂

If you’re saving your writing onto your harddrive I’d recommend buying a flash drive, if only to prevent losing your progress with any future technological failures. Since the original Star Wars films have a special place in my heart I’d be interested in reading Ice Planet, that and it is one of your stories. I’m going to get onto my answers next.

Hey Mark, yes, lesson was learned, and I have a flash drive which goes everywhere with me (it is attached to my keyring) and every time I make an update on my laptop, I update my flash drive too.

Don’t get me started on Star Wars! They have to be the ultimate in Science Fiction and what first introduced me to the world of Speculative Fiction, and no doubt will inspire more stories and movies than I could ever imagine. Thank you George Lucas 🙂
