The end of the month is nigh, and another month about to dawn. Another month closer to SoCNoC, and already I am thinking about my SoCNoC project.
Yes, I am still writing a novel at present, but while I have not technically added anything to it this month, I have transcribed a lot of the newspaper articles into it. Is that cheating – I don’t think so. The newspaper articles provided coverage of the court case in such detail, that I have, verbatim, all of the verbal evidence required. So it will be a case of adding tension, excitement, drama and emotions, and of course playing with the text as well, because I doubt someone would give evidence in such short sentences – the papers no doubt just took the salient points to give to their readers. Hence I have lots of fun ahead of me making this information interesting.
But I am hoping to finish that story next month (there was no hope of me getting it done this month, but kids are back at school on Monday – 6 hours a day… should be enough – yeah right!), and June is SoCNoC (Southern Cross Novel Competition) and I like to have a story idea in mind when I start.
I have a couple of three ideas – a Pyschological thriller based in Nelson, a Steampunk story set in Victorian Nelson or an ice planet / sci fi story. So which one do I want? Well the main character in the ice planet story is giving me attitude (do me or I will harm you… OK, like that is going to happen. I could stop you from getting any new ideas on your new story… Riiiight. Seriously, I could make your life miserable… I could make your like miserable by not writing you. I want you to be a strong character, not some wimpy needy thing. If I have time, I could make you stronger. Oh yeah. Don’t believe you…), the psychological thriller is certainly gaining moment (I have 5 characters, an idea, but no really strong plot) and the steampunk story… well I have ideas, characters and a plot, but the timing doesn’t feel right.
All of the ideas could be formulated, and my mind is ripe for the picking and I really want to let my imagination run wild. What do you, my readers think? Lets vote on it.
