Yes, I finished my Level 2 NCEA Visual Arts folio by the end of the term. And I am very happy with it. It is pretty much as the picture last week – except I swapped the bottom row on the second board with the middle row. It feels good to get that done. I have four weeks when I return next term before the Yr 12’s finish for exams (which I don’t have to do), but I might go back and make a book press or two for my notebooks.
I have my Notebookaholics page up and running, and a Notebookaholics facebook page now. Go and check them out and like them. My notebooks are now for sale, so if you want one, go onto the site and buy one.
I have decided that I want to get Curse of the Taniwha out of Scrivener and into the hands of critique partners – because this story has been dragging for a while. I’ve had a couple of issues with it, trying to get the story together, but I think they are slowly being ironed out. I love this story, I have since I started writing it, and I really want to see it come to fruition. I am going to work on this over the coming weeks to get it to the point where I can call it finished and hand it over.
I’m still working through my 100 day project – and loving the art I am producing. Its quick, simple, but looks very effective. Some are ‘meh’ – but I do like a lot of it.
Over the weekend, I got the opportunity to go sailing again in the Queen Charlotte Sounds. Its such a lovely place to explore, so many awesome things to see, like a Hectors dolphin, a couple of penguins, and a lady feeding four cats on a yacht anchored in Ngakuta Bay. The highlight of the weekend was seeing the phosphorescence in the water at Double Cove. We had to wait until it was dark, and we watched it sparkle like stars in the water, before we put a fishing rod into the water and swirled it around. The water came alive with green light as it trailed in the wake of the rod. It was an amazing experience, and one that will stay with me forever.
Its the start of the school holidays and already the Baby Elephant has been galloping around the house (and its only 8:46am!) But, I will endeavour to spend some time this week making more notebooks and writing. If I find my sanity…
What are your plans for the coming week?
