I have been having a bit of a rough time of it lately, just with one thing or another, but the thing that has shaken me the most in the last month, is having dreams about needing to go to the toilet, finding one, but it isn’t private. This seems to be a recurring dream for me, and rather disconcerting. So I decided to do a little investigating. Courtesy of a lovely little site called Dream Moods.
Determined to find the answer to my strange dream, I looked up going to the toilet… unfortunately it didn’t come up with anything… not that I expected it to. But Toilet came up with some really good interpretations:
To see a toilet in your dream, symbolizes a release of emotions. You need to get rid of something in your life that is useless. Seeing a toilet in your dream may also be a physical manifestation brought about by a full bladder. The dream is attempting to get you up and to the bathroom. If you are cleaning the toilet, then it means that you are starting to shed your outer wall or lose your inhibitions.
Mmm, interesting. Ok, what about the privacy side of things, I can’t seem to find a toilet that is private (don’t ask, I really don’t know why toilets are so out in the open in my dreams…)
To dream that you have no privacy, suggests that you are feeling exposed and unprotected. Perhaps there is something that are you trying to hide. To dream that you have privacy indicates that you are repressing your emotions and not allowing them to be fully expressed. You are worried that others will see the real you and criticize you.
OK. So to summarise: I need to get rid of something in my life that is useless and that I am feeling exposed and unprotected.
Strange how true that probably is!
But dreams can also be really good ideas for stories too. A lot of my ideas have originated from dreams, the Ice Planet for one the origins are from a dream – the start of it anyway, the rest is pure imagination.
What I suggest you do, is next time you have a strange dream, keep a note of it. Maybe do a bit of an interpretation and see what comes up.
