Gosh, its Monday again already – but then I haven’t been blogging much – not because I have been busy writing – no, mostly because the big black dog has been dragging me down again.
Yes, the depression decided to rear its ugly head, and I finally went to the Doctors last week. We have increased my meds, and I am now at the top end of the value that I can have on my current meds. I’ve had to make some changes in my life again – but mostly they are ones that I have let lapse.
So yesterday I went for a walk with a friend of mine up the Centre of New Zealand, which is based in the Nelson Botanical Garden. I remember clambering up there as a kid, but as an adult, it wasn’t quite such an easy ride – but that is mostly because my fitness level is pretty low. We then walked across the Stanley Whitehead walk and down to Atawhai Drive. It was a beautiful day, and a lovely walk. The sea breeze was perfect for cooling me down.
It felt so good getting out for a walk, that I got up early this morning and went for a walk up our local walking track. The first half a kilometre is a great cardio workout because its steep and twisty as it winds its way up a hill. I stopped at the top and walked back down and home again. It was still a good 30 minute walk.
Now, at 9:15am, I’m ready for a nap!
I’ve also got back into my gardening again. I’ve always loved propagating plants and watching them grow and flower. So I have made time to get out into the garden. Its been a major mission because I have let it go, but weeding and rediscovering some of the things I’ve put in the garden is fun. I found that three carnations I planted two years ago have survived. I planted about 6 plants, so half surviving is actually really good considering the neglect it has been through! I’ve also replanted my herb garden, and now tidying up a shell path I made a wee while ago, so that I can make this into a nice space for sitting in during the summer.
Writing has slipped a little, but I did crack the half way mark! I want to get this story finished before too long, so I will try and keep writing for the next couple of weeks just to get it finished! I’ve loving the story, and I’m writing it in first person, which can be quite disconcerting when you read it back – but its coming together. I’ve also have plans for another story – one that has just slipped in, which means that I have ANOTHER new story to write next year. But that’s okay 🙂
I’ve also done up a plan for next year, between writing, editing, and publishing. It means that at least 3 books will be published next year. Now, I just need to find the money to publish them in paperback form!
So what are you up to this week?
