My husband and I gave up making New Years resolutions because we never kept them. So we decided to just be happy instead. Hasn’t always worked, but we have been happier because we haven’t broken any resolutions!
But this year, instead of making a resolution, I thought about making some writing goals. Now, goal writing isn’t something I do very often, I sort of blunder my way through life and are happy with my lot, but I want to really concentrate on writing this year and spend some quality time actually producing quality items. So, my goals for this year (in no particular order):
# Get Chrystias finished off and start looking around for a publisher / agent for it.
# Get Kings Queens and Noblemen edited to the second edit – with a view to getting it finished by the end of the year
# Create more short stories and really start to focus on developing this skill further
# Get one short story published (in a magazine / e-zine) (something other than my own blog site!)
# Finish off some story ideas and start writing the next novel – the first draft to be completed before the end of the year (2010)
# Encourage some of my writing friends to get their stuff published
Six, that seems like a nice reasonable number. Manageable, which is what I need, because I only have half a year to write, the other half is spent trying to keep my son entertained, and spending time with him, because he really doesn’t like it when Mummy sits at the computer and asks him to be quiet so she can concentrate, because sons are not meant to be quiet… are they?
