Writing Goals – June Update

June has been and gone in a flurry of clacking keyboard keys.  Yes, it was the month of the 50k challenge, SoCNoC (Southern Cross Novel Competition) and yes, I did finish it, with a day to spare, so yesterday, I had a day off!!!

# Get Chrystias finished off and start looking around for a publisher / agent for it. – Waiting to hear back from my readers on this one.

# Get Kings Queens and Noblemen edited to the second edit – with a view to getting it finished by the end of the year – This is one that seems to have been put on the back burner.  I would really love to get to it this year, but I am wondering if that is going to happen.

# Create more short stories and really start to focus on developing this skill further – This month I have managed 8 short stories, of which were all incorporated into my novels (yes, novelS – I started a second one!)

# Get one short story published (in a magazine / e-zine) (something other than my own blog site!) – This hasn’t been a focus for me this month.

# Finish off some story ideas and start writing the next novel – the first draft to be completed before the end of the year (2010) –  I finished writing Medusa’s Garden – it came in at 42k, but I got it done.  I started on a new novel, Life Lessons from the Dead, which is a series of short stories incorporated into a bigger story.  I am not sure I have this formula worked out yet, but I will.

# Encourage some of my writing friends – As part of this creativity workshop we are supposed to encourage other writers.  While I don’t always comment on their posts, I do have a couple of new blogs that I am now watching and reading..

June has been a challenging month healthwise, but we got there in the end.  I am looking forward to having a more quieter pace of writing style for the next month.

  1. Thanks Merilee, I didn’t think I had done much this month until I filled out my goal sheet! Its great to keep track of things like this, keeps me honest!

    • Thanks Rosalind, I needed to get some focus in my writing, and I can’t believe it is 6 months since I set these goals, and I am still following them!
